Requirements for Bernese Mountain Dog Litters

  • Both parents must be registered with a Kennel Club either in the UK or overseas.
  • Both parents must be a recognised standard colour for the breed.
  • The sire must be over the age of 18 months.
  • The dam must be over the age of 24 months.
  • The dam must not have whelped more than 3 litters in her lifetime.
  • The dam of the litter must be under the age of 8 years old on the litter due date.
  • The dam must not have whelped another litter within the last 12 months.
  • The dam must not have had two back to back litters within the last two years.

Breed specific health tests

Both the sire and the dam must have the following health tests. 

Both parents must have been tested, with at least one parent having the following scores.

BVAFCI OFA
0-4 A-1Excellent
5-10 A-2Good
11-18 B-1Fair
19-25B-2Borderline

If one parent has the following score, then EBV’s below 5 will be accepted. 

BVAFCI OFA
26+ B-2Mild

Ideally both parents should have a score of 0:0.

However, we will allow a litter to be listed if one parent has an elbow score of 0:1 or 1:0, if the other parent is 0:0.

How to add your Bernese Mountain Dog Litter

You must complete the following steps. 

  1. Add the dam of the litter. 
  2. Complete the form.

Failure to adding the dam will result in a delay to your litter being processed.

All litters are  reviewed and verified before they are added to the litter directory.
